Former Alamosa resident and Pueblo, Colorado resident Marlene K. Arellano, 61, passed away February 20, 2016 at the University Hospital in Aurora.

Marlene was born in Alamosa, Colorado on April 26, 1954 the daughter of Sam and Agnes Hayashida Mizokami. She married Donald Arellano in Alamosa in 2004.

In her younger years, she worked for her family on their farm and most recently was a homemaker. She enjoyed watching “I Love Lucy” on television. Marlene was very supportive of her son and her family in all their endeavors. She attended many different sporting activities her son was involved in and liked to watch the Colorado Rockies play baseball. Marlene was an avid Elvis Presley fan.

She is survived by her husband Don Arellano of Pueblo, CO; her son Isaiah Valenzuela of Alamosa; her brothers Duane (Rita) Mizokami and Ron (Cindy) Mizokami, both of Alamosa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews whom she loved dearly, and a host of extended family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gary Mizokami, her sister Jeanne White and her first husband Adolph Valenzuela.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Interment of ashes will follow the services in the Alamosa Cemetery.
