Obituary for Mario Najera

Mario Ismael Najera, age 11 years, died in his parents arms at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa, CO on July 24, 2013. After struggling with a rare metabolic disease called Niemann Pick Type C, he passed gently into the arms of Jesus. Mario was born on September 13, 2001 in Colorado Springs, CO. He was the son of Mario R Najera and Natalie M. Herrera. He was the answer to our prayers and we waited for his birth with joyful expectation. During his short visit on earth, he enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, dancing and spending every waking moment with family and friends. He was loved by all who met him, and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his parents Mario Najera and Natalie Herrera, siblings Anika and Serjio Najera, maternal grandparents Tom and Fran Herrera of Monte Vista, paternal grandparents Rafael and Clara Najera of Center, maternal great grandparents Gilbert and Mary Padilla of Monte Vista, paternal great grandmother Ramona Herrera of Del Norte and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mario was preceded in death by maternal great grandfather O.M Herrera and paternal great grandfather Joe Garcia A Viewing for family and friends will be held on Sunday July 28, 2013 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday July 29, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Bill Metz Auditorium with burial to follow in the Monte Vista Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation for Niemann Pick Disease and maybe be sent in care of Rogers Family Mortuary.
