Obituary for Marilyn Jane Muniz
Marilyn Jane “Bea” Muñiz passed from death into eternal life on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Alamosa Hospital, with her beloved and devoted sister Reinie Owsley at her side.
Marilyn attended Adams State College, sang and played guitar as an entertainer, worked as an accountant, served as a security guard at Stapleton Airport, and worked as a clerk for DHS for the city of Denver for 28 years, from which she retired in 2015. Because of various medical issues, Marilyn had been a resident of San Luis Valley Care Center for the last 3 ½ years. There, she was visited daily by her sister Reinie.
Marilyn was a shy, reserved, kind soul who provided a home for her mother after her father passed. She loved music with every fiber of her being and was happiest while listening to music. She taught herself to play the guitar and the piano. Her skill enabled her to play and sing at various places, for weddings, and most of all for her own enjoyment. She could play most songs by ear after hearing them just a few times. She had a vast record collection, and her favorite recording artist was Linda Ronstadt. In addition, she wrote hundreds of songs, words and music. The world will never get to hear them because she was afraid to share them except with those, she loved and trusted. We know she will be singing and praising God for eternity with her beautiful voice. I, Inez, will miss singing with you, Bea, my beautiful sister.
Preceded in death by her parents, Urbano O. & Gertrude Muñiz, older sisters Lucy Bramon, Virginia Lucero, infant Mary Jane, niece Shaunna Rendon and nephew Mike Lucero, sister-in-law Gerry Muñiz, and brother-in-law Art Ray. Marilyn will be mourned and missed by those family members who remain. She is survived by older siblings Dave “Urby” Muñiz of Denver, CO; Joe Muñiz of San Diego, CA; Elisa Rendon (John) of Denver, CO; Inez Ray of Jonesboro, AR; Reinie Owsley (Mark) of Alamosa, CO; and Ramón Muñiz (Lisa) of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by 24 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews, and one maternal aunt. She will be dearly missed by her friends who loved her.
