Obituary for Lawrence Jack Parker

Lifetime Alamosa resident Lawrence Jack Parker, 61, passed away on June 17, 2022 at his home in Alamosa.

Lawrence's life began on November 17, 1960 in Alamosa, Colorado, the only son to Jack Junior Parker and Edna Joan (Hensley) Parker.

Lawrence deeply loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He poured out his immense creativity into his grandchildren, devising adventures, games, and learning activities for them to enjoy. Together they spent many holidays, birthdays, annual grandpa camping trips, and times together on the ranch. He had truly captured their hearts and his legacy lives on through his family.

Lawrence worked in construction and built, renovated, and worked on hundreds of homes in the San Luis Valley and greater southern Colorado area throughout the years. He was a jack of all trades and could construct or repair just about anything. Lawrence approached his work with exceptional integrity, craftsmanship, and diligence. He owned his own contracting business. He was the project manager for the La Puente Home renovation and expansion projects. He also served as the construction supervisor for Habitat for Humanity, and CRHDC where he managed the construction of dozens of new homes. He was a patient teacher and knowledgeable builder, hosting countless volunteer groups, home owners, and regular volunteers.

He enjoyed archery, gardening, horseback riding, raising chickens and animals at his ranch and was very self-sufficient. His constant companion was his dog, Mr. Bojangles. He loved exploring and adventuring from the prairies to the mountains. He also enjoyed reading, studying history and was a lifelong learner. Lawrence has been described as a renaissance man. He was a man of the earth.

He is survived by his son Jesse Parker and his family and a host of extended family and friends.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his grandparents Willie and Ollie Parker and Edna and Dale Hensley, uncle Richard Parker, as well as his parents Jack and Joan Parker.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 16th, 2022 at Society Hall at 400 Ross Ave. in Alamosa. This will be followed by a casual time of conversation and sharing memories together at the north pavilion of Cole Park starting at 11:30am. Lunch will be provided.
