Obituary for Larry Glen Reed

Longtime Center resident Larry Glen Reed, 80, passed away on April 16, 2020. He was born on June 22, 1939 in Worland, Wyoming to William and Florence Reed. Larry graduated from Cody high school in Cody, Wyoming in 1957 and achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Physics from the University of Wyoming in 1961. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Larry moved to the San Luis Valley in the late 60s to start farming from the ground up. Over the next 50 years, following his dream of farming, he worked the land farming potatoes and wheat. On April 24, 1982, Larry married the love of his life, Vivian Janice Todd in Monte Vista. He cherished his time with Janice, especially sneaking away from the farm to drive up to the mountains for a picnic. Larry lovingly cared for his wife at home until her passing on December 1, 2015. Larry was a member of the Monte Vista Methodist Church.

Larry is survived by his brothers, Bill (Ann) Reed and Joe (Kathy) Reed, as well as his brother-in-law Glenn Todd and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janice as well as his sister Janis Haeberle.

Larry’s wishes were to be buried in the Monte Vista Cemetery with his wife Janice. A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Trinidad Nursing Program and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
