Kevin Lee Murray, 52, passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2015 in Monte Vista. Kevin was born in Torrance, California on February 10, 1963, one of five children to William and Barbara Burch Murray.
Kevin worked for many years in Carpet Laying, was a restaurant cook for much of his working life and most recently was a dish washer at a local restaurant. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, camping, marksmanship and especially watching NASCAR car races. His favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. Kevin was a people person and the amount of friends he had was a testament to this.
He is survived by his son David DePew of Alamosa; his brothers and sisters Jim Buck of Eureka, CA, Diane Phillips of Monte Vista and Brent (Naomi) Murray of California; his nieces and nephews Jimmy Jr., Jeremy, Adrian, Mike, Scott, Brent Jr., Melissa and Ryan; the mother of his son Sheri Gurule of Alamosa; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patty Garbay, his niece Jodie Garbay and his brother-in-law Paul Phillips.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 10 a.m on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Rogers Family Mortuary, located at 404 Morris Street in Monte Vista. Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home office.
