Obituary for Karen Lynell Bohn

Karen Lynell Bohn, a long-time resident of Monte Vista, passed away at home with her family by her side in the early morning hours of August 20, 2020. Karen was born in Denver, Colorado on December 02, 1945. She grew up in Del Norte, Colorado after being adopted by Ethel and John Marlatt. Karen was a gentle soul, a vibrant mother, a loving wife and a nature enthusiast. She was creative and could start a conversation with anyone around her. Karen was also a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Karen loved outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking and gardening. Karen got excited every spring to see what bloomed from the year before and to plant and nurture new life around the home she shared with her family. In her younger days she was quite the entrepreneur who took pride in being able to invest in her community. Many people had the pleasure of getting to know Karen throughout the years. Anyone who entered one of her establishments was greeted with a smile, a joke and a reminder of what their usual order was. She had an infectious laugh that filled the room.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin A. Bohn and her parents Ethel and John Marlatt.

She is survived by Kent Marlatt (brother), Kevin Lyons (son), Lisa Chavez (daughter), Chris Bohn (son), and Derrick Bohn (son), Zachary Chavez (grandson), Brennan Chavez (grandson), Rhiannon Martinez (granddaughter), and Kaleb Bohn (grandson).

Memorial Services to help celebrate her life will be announced at a later date.
