Obituary for Justino Garcia Rodriquez

On December 10, 2020 Justino Rodriguez at the age of 101, joined his fellow World War II Veterans in a more tranquil place. Justino passed away peacefully at home in Manassa Colorado. He is survived by descendants; Rachel Kautz (Ken) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Rebecca Christensen (Hans) of Antonito, Colorado and Ruby King (Rodney) of Alamosa, Colorado; seven grand children, thirteen great grand children and one great great grand child. Added to the descendants he was fortunate to have an extended family: three step grand children, ten step great grand children and two step great great grand children.

During his life, Justino worked at a profession he loved, he was a sheep shearer. At the young age of 76, he decided sheep shearing was for the younger more agile people, so he sold his equipment and proceeded onto his second career; horse caretaker. While grooming he would sing to the horses, discuss his thoughts and even encourage them to be better. The horses loved him and he in turn loved them. And that's the expression we have been receiving from the people that knew him. Those that he loved, loved him back and are better for knowing him. He will be greatly missed.

Cremation was selected and a service with military honors will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the charity of your choice and may be made in care of the funeral home office. To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com

Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa is in care of the arrangements.
