Obituary for June B. Hunter

June Brady Hunter, 92, passed away at the Conejos County Hospital, LaJara, Colorado, on August 10, 2017 of natural age causes.

Born June 1, 1925 in Manassa, Colorado to Columbus Franklin Brady and Sarah “Sadie” Delila Rasmussen Brady. She loved growing up in Manassa and was always proud to tell people that she was from Manassa. She attended school in Manassa and always got excellent grades, but in order to get the more business classes she went to California her senior year and lived with her sister. While there she met a handsome Air Force service man. She married Walton Wahn Hunter on September 13, 1944. They were married in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. At the end of WWII she and her husband and one young son went to Salt Lake City where they lived for twenty years. During that time she had twin boys who were stillborn, and three daughters. In 1966 she, her husband and family moved to San Jose, California. There her business classes became valuable to her. She worked for Lockheed an aviation manufacturer. She retired after 23 years.

All of her life she was an active and a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having gained a testimony of the Lord and the Church at the age of 14. She raised her children in the LDS faith and taught them to love and serve God. She served in many callings. She loved music and served for many years as the chorister of the youth choir. She was one of the first den mothers (Cub Scouts) for the LDS Church. She always supported her husband, who served twice (16years) as a Bishop for the LDS Church.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty years, twin sons, three sisters Ivora Marie Brady, La Rue Brady Matheron Barr , Le Ora Brady Trent, and 5 brothers, Millard, Reeves “Chuck” , Nyle, Boyd, and Monty.

She is survived by her son W Wayne Hunter (DiAna), Manassa, CO., Deborah Marsh, Rebecca Rapp both of San Diego, CA. and Cindy Steele (Kevin), Southern, CA., 21 grandchildren and a still growing number of great-grandchildren currently 28.

A viewing will be held on August 19, 2017, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Manassa Building from 10:00 – 11:00 AM followed by a graveside memorial at the Manassa Cemetery.
