Obituary for Juana Diego Nicolas
Alamosa resident Juana Diego Nicolas, 60, was called home to her heavenly father April 26, 2023 in New Mexico.
Juana was born in Santa Eulalia, Huehuetenango, Guatemala on January 21, 1963 the daughter of Gaspar Diego and Lucia Nicolas Lucas. She married Francisco Juan Felipe and he survives in the family home.
Juana worked for many years at the Rakhra Mushroom Farm, owned and operated her own retail store Tienda y Comida Guatemala Shalom, which she was very proud of and worked at Burger King, part time, in Alamosa. She was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time with her family, she also loved her grandchildren and was always telling jokes. Juana always had time to make people feel loved and special. She always used kind words, such as “mi ami”, “Chula”, “mija”, “mijo”, “baby boy” and “baby girl”. She also enjoyed gardening, the casino and tending to her new chicken. Juana was always on to new adventures that kept her busy. She loved receiving flowers, because it made her feel special.
She is survived by her husband Francisco of Alamosa; her children: Ana Gaspar (Enrique Lucas), Isabela Gaspar and Oscar Gaspar, her grandchildren, Juan Gaspar, Angel Gaspar, Francisco Gaspar, Araseli Gaspar, Leonardo Gaspar and Mateo Gaspar, her siblings; Jesus Gaspar (Eulalia Pascual) of Alamosa, Jose Gaspar Lucas (Maria Diego Domingo) of Denver, Mateo Gaspar of Denver, Odilia Nicolas of Denver, Lucia Nicolas of Denver Maria Gaspar of Guatemala, Daniel Nicolas of Denver and numerous nieces and nephews.
Juana was preceded in death by her mother Lucia Nicolas, her father Gaspar Diego Lorenzo, her son, Ricardo Gaspar and her brothers Pedro Francisco and Nicolas Gaspar.
A Visitation will be held at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:30 am on Friday May 12, 2023, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. both at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery.

Juana nació en Santa Eulalia, Huehuetenango, Guatemala el 21 de enero de 1963, hija de Gaspar Diego y Lucía Nicolás Lucas. Se casó con Francisco Juan Felipe y él sobrevive en la casa familiar.
Juana trabajó durante muchos años en la Granja de Hongos Rakhra, poseía y operaba su propia tienda minorista Tienda y Comida Guatemala Shalom, de la que estaba muy orgullosa y trabajó en Burger King, a tiempo parcial, en Alamosa. Era muy trabajadora y disfrutaba pasar tiempo con su familia, también amaba a sus nietos y siempre contaba chistes. Juana siempre tuvo tiempo para hacer que la gente se sintiera amada y especial. Siempre usaba palabras amables, como "mi ami", "Chula", "mija", "mijo", "baby boy" y "baby girl". También disfrutaba de la jardinería, el casino y el cuidado de su nuevo pollo. Juana siempre estaba en nuevas aventuras que la mantenían ocupada. Le encantaba recibir flores, porque la hacía sentir especial.
Le sobreviven su esposo Francisco de Alamosa; sus hijos: Ana Gaspar (Enrique Lucas), Isabela Gaspar y Oscar Gaspar, sus nietos, Juan Gaspar, Ángel Gaspar, Francisco Gaspar, Araseli Gaspar, Leonardo Gaspar y Mateo Gaspar, sus hermanos; Jesús Gaspar (Eulalia Pascual) de Alamosa, José Gaspar Lucas (María Diego Domingo) de Denver, Mateo Gaspar de Denver, Odilia Nicolás de Denver, Lucía Nicolás de Denver María Gaspar de Guatemala, Daniel Nicolás de Denver y numerosas sobrinas y sobrinos.
A Juana le precedieron en la muerte su madre Lucía Nicolás, su padre Gaspar Diego Lorenzo, su hijo Ricardo Gaspar y sus hermanos Pedro Francisco y Nicolás Gaspar.
El Rezo del Rosario se llevará a cabo a las 9:30 a.m. del viernes 12 de mayo de 2023, seguido de una Misa Fúnebre de Entierro Cristiano a las 10:00 a. m., ambos en la Iglesia Católica del Sagrado Corazón en Alamosa. El entierro seguirá a los servicios en el Cementerio de Alamosa.
