Obituary for Eulalio Martinez
Longtime San Luis resident Jose Eulalio Martinez, 80, passed away February 20, 2021 at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.
Eulalio was born in San Francisco, Colorado on August 16, 1940, the proud son to Miguel and Frances Martinez. He married the love of his life Frances Arellano on November 3, 1963 in San Luis. They enjoyed over 56 years together until her death in 2019.
Eulalio worked for many years and until his retirement as a Mechanic for Colorado Aggregate. He loved to tinker and make things. He was a builder and enjoyed construction and crafts and was a “jack of all trades”. He also loved spending time with his family, fishing, and painting.
He is survived by his children: Ricky Martinez of San Luis, CO, Sammy Martinez of Alamosa, CO, and Lolly (Phillip) Esquibel of Denver, CO; his grandchildren: Eulalio (Vanessa) Martinez, Jose (Lorroya Romero) Martinez, Shantae Martinez, Phillip Esquibel and Monique Esquibel; his great-grandchildren Soliel Martinez, Alexander Santiago and baby Martinez on the way; his sisters and brother Cordy Valdez, Benjamin Martinez, and Irene Trujillo, all of Denver, CO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Eulalio is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and an infant brother.
