Obituary for John Ray Robins

Longtime San Luis Valley and current Colorado City, Colorado resident John Ray Robins, 58, died June 2, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.

John’s life began in Alamosa, Colorado on October 24, 1961 the proud son of Gary R. and Suzan Grantham Robins. He married Bobbette L. Abeyta on February 15, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

John loved the mountains and being in the outdoors. He was truly a mountain man and enjoyed the outdoor activities of hunting, fishing, climbing 14ers and just being in nature. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and children and saw the sights of China, the 15th-century Inca citadel Machu Picchu, located in the Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru and the Great Pyramids of Egypt to name a few.

John was the best daddy ever! He is survived by his wife Bobbette Abeyta of Colorado City, CO; his children Megan Elizabeth Robins of Alamosa, CO and G. Hunter Robins of Colorado City; his parents Gary and Suzan Robins of Bountiful, CO; his siblings Tracey (Garth) Crowther, Jack Robins all of Bountiful, CO and his sister-in-law that he considered his sister Rachel Segura of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the Manassa Cemetery in Manassa, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be made in his memory at www.cancer.org and click on the “Donate” tab.
