Obituary for John Roger Manzanares

Monte Vista resident John Roger Manzanares, 53, died June 26, 2020 at the Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

Roger was born in Ogden, Utah on September 14, 1966 the son to Joseph Patrizo Manzanares and Bertha Garcia.

Roger worked for many years as a Carpenter with his brother Joe. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. One of his favorite places to fish were Road Canyon at the mouth of the Rio Grande and Big Meadows. He never missed a big game hunting season. Roger’s family was his love and they looked forward to the many barbecue’s together.

Roger was an avid Denver Broncos fan and in his spare time, he enjoyed playing BINGO and gambling. He had a good sense of humor and had many jokes to share.

He is survived by his children Ashley and J Southard of Steamboat Springs, CO, Kayla and Kelly Aoyama of Las Vegas, Nevada, Anastasia Manzanares and Josh DeSantiago of Port Hueneme, CA, and (RJ) John Roger Manzanares of Pueblo, CO; his girlfriend Ruby Archuleta of Monte Vista; his brother Joseph (Kathy) Manzanares of Alamosa, CO; as well as eight grandchildren Jesslyn Molina, Alyssa Aoyama, Erika Molina, Mykah Manzanares, Jaylynn Aoyama, Alyanah, Hoshea, and Charlett DeSantiago, and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family Scott and Terri Gorman of Poynette, WI and Dan and Brenda Johnston of Rock Hill, SC and Shaun and Angie Quintana of Colorado Springs, CO and Frank Quintana of Castle Pines Colorado. Grand children Wesley and Sidney Gorman, Ashley, Bennett, Amber and Jamesley Johnston and Calvin, Gwenyth, Lauren, Allyson, Paxton, McKenna, Malia and Madden Quintana and great grand child Hadley Gorman.

Roger is preceded in death by his wife Sharon Quintana and parents and his siblings: Diane, Alberta, Christopher and Ricky Manzanares.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the San Luis Valley Cemetery in Monte Vista.
