Crestone resident John Walter Gripp, 87, passed away on November 7, 2020 at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center in Alamosa. He was born on March 26, 1933 in Miami, Texas to Guy Walter and Bessie Dee (Seitz) Gripp. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. John married Helenn Louise Bouquet on August 30, 1957 in Panhandle, Texas.

He is survived by his wife Helenn of Crestone, his children, Lee and Kisha Gripp and Steve and Pam Gripp, his grandchildren, Jaredmichael Fish-Gripp, Zachary Gripp, Eric Gripp, Jennifer Dixon, Jeremy Gripp, Amy Contreras, Melissa Hopkins, and Cory Lunt as well as his great grandchildren, his sister Dorothy Schoenhals and other extended family.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Cathy Annette, his brother Dick and his sister Martha.
