Blanca resident John Howard Bregg, 58, died September 15, 2013 at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.
John was born on July 24, 1955 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He met Deborah Burns and they were married on August 13, 1999 in Racket, Missouri.
John worked as a Mechanic at the Wal-Mart Auto Center in Alamosa. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 8 years then retired from the United States Navy after 20 years. He travelled all over the United States and the world while serving in the military.
John loved helping people and was always finding a way to assist someone with building, repair work or just about anything. He had a good sense of humor and will be remembered for this. In his spare time John liked to tinker with cars and his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife Deborah Bregg of Blanca; his son Phillip Bregg of Springfield, Oregon and his daughter Luanne; as well as his sister Jean of Kansas City, Missouri.
John is preceded in death by his father, his brother James Bregg and his step-daughter Lisa Collins.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Contributions are suggested to either the American Cancer Society or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of the funeral home office.
