Obituary for Joe Garza

Joe Garza, resident of Pueblo, Colorado passed away on December 1st, 2014 at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Joe was born October 25, 1957 to Margarita Garza and Arturo Munoz in San Benito, Texas and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona.

Joe traveled the southwest at an early age as a migrant worker and quickly learned the value of hard work. He married Theresa Archuleta on September 16, 1975 and their union produced four children; Arthur, Pete, Joleen and Chantillie. Joe and his family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where he was introduced to the oil field. He made a lifelong career out of being a roughneck. He was proud to be one of the oil fields elite and thought being oil field trash was pretty unique. He loved to fix and flip real-estate and especially enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his sons Arthur (Blanca Lozoya) Garza of Monte Vista and Joshua “Pete” (Lisa Duran) Garza of Pueblo, his daughters Joleen (Brian Wright) Garza and Chantillie Garza all of Monte Vista, his grandchildren, Yesenia Garza of Pueblo, Casamira Garza of Monte Vista, Adonia Garza of Monte Vista, Matthew Wright of Monte Vista and great grandchild Malachi Martinez, his lifelong friend Theresa Archuleta, his girlfriend Patricia Sanchez and her children Brian Martinez, Stephanie Runyon and grandkids Hannah, Evan and Urijah of Wahiawa, Hawaii.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Christopher Frankie Lozoya.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday December 6, 2014 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A vigil service with recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday December 5, 2014 also at the church. Interment will follow services in the San Luis Valley Cemetery.
