Obituary

Longtime Alamosa resident and Monte Vista native, Joaquin DuPont (Wax), passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019. He was born on September 29, 1981 to Sharon Lujan.

On September 25, 2010 he married the love of his life, Lisa DuPont. He became a loving stepfather to Janae and Antonio Rivera. On March 15, 2013 and November 7, 2014 respectably, they welcomed their two beautiful daughters Aubrey and Ayla; on February 25, 2018 their handsome son Aiden, who were the most important part of his life.

He was an accomplished electrician, loving father and husband. He valued his time with his family very much and on his free time he took the pleasure in coaching his daughters little league tee-ball, and basketball. Civilians will recognize him best as a talented softball player, an avid Rockies and Raiders fan, and the life of the party. He enjoyed spending time with his friends by hunting and hanging out at the shop after work.

He is survived by his wife Lisa DuPont; children Janae, Antonio, Aubrey, Ayla and Aiden; his brother Anthony (Danelle) DuPont; and his nephew Jesus (Keisha) Garcia.

Joaquin is preceded in death by his mother Sharon Lujan; and his sister Josette Montoya.

Services will be held on Friday December 27, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa at 10:30 am, with a Recitation of the Rosary Thursday, December 26, 2019 at 6:00 P.M also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Joaquin (Walker as I called him) Dupont was a very successful young man justice I knew he would 30 years ago. Growing up with my son Ronnie in flag football, youth basketball, Babe Ruth summer baseball and I had the pleasure of getting to coach him four years of high school baseball. Joaquinquin always gave 100%, he was competitive and had respect for his teammates, coaches, opponents, officials and everyone that crossed his path. I coached a lot of great student /athletes over the years and Joaquin was right at the top with the very best of them. (Still had the best pickoff to second base of anybody). Joaquin took his skills and knowledge he learned from being a student/athlete to the next level...What I call "The Game of Life". He was a respected son, brother, nephew, husband, father and friend. He will be missed by many in the San Luis Valley but never forgotten. RIP My Son...Life is way to short...Always keep in touch with family and friends...Tomorrow never comes. Bradley Swartz
