Obituary for Jerry Dean David Sr.

Lifelong San Luis Valley resident, Jerry Dean David, 85, was called home on March 25, 2023 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jerry was born on January 6, 1938 in Del Norte, Colorado to Leonard and Francella (Oellien) David. Jerry enlisted on November 3, 1955 with the US Navy where he served in the Korean War and continued his trade as a mechanic working on Aircraft while stationed at Mid-Way Island until his Honorable discharge in October of 1961.

Jerry married Angie Trujillo and they welcomed 5 sons Richard, Jerry Jr. “Ord”, John, Rodney, Michael best known as Dink. Jerry was raised on a farm between Del Norte and Center, Colorado Farming became one of his many passions. Eventually he went back to working as an auto mechanic for several of the well-known dealerships in the San Luis Valley. Jerry eventually opened S & J Auto Mechanic shop in Monte Vista where he met many people that turned into lifelong friends. Jerry loved the time spent with his sons and grandsons. He also enjoyed tinkering on his many projects and taking long drives to find his next mechanic project. He is most known for his 1936 Chevy “Rat Rod” Truck, but most of all he just enjoyed anytime he spent with his beloved family.

Jerry is survived by the mother of his children Angie Pinon, sons Jerry “Ord” Jr. (Sandy) David, John (Darla) David, Rodney (Lisa) David, Mike David and his grandchildren Johnny (Albena) David, James (Anna) David, Aladene (Ramon) Ramirez, Erica (Victor) David, Oriana (Jerome) Sanchez, Audrey (Ramon) Gutierrez, Dorinda (Chad) David, Rodney (Brandi) David, Amber David, Ashlee David, Britny David, Sarenna (Vance) David, Harley David, and Axl David, 18 great-grandchildren, his brother Scott David, sister Joan David, several nieces, nephews and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard David, grandson Samuel David, sisters Linda Webb and Susan Littlefield.

Cremation was Jerry’s wish and a celebration of his life will take place at B & W Body Shop on April 1st, 2023 at 4:00 P.M. Friends are welcome to drop by and share memories of Jerry with his family.
