Obituary for Jerome Perry Parsons

Alamosa resident Jerome Perry Parsons, 70, died May 7, 2013 at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa.
Jerome was born in Alamosa, Colorado on June 21, 1942 to Jay and Lila Wilhite Parsons. He married Kathryn Shawcroft on March 7, 1965 in Alamosa and they would enjoy the next 48 years together until his death.
Jerome worked for most of his life as a Farmer on his family farm. He mostly raised Barley, Alfalfa and Wheat and on occasion grew potatoes and other vegetables. Following his retirement from the Farm Jerome travelled around southern Colorado selling parts, nuts, bolts and farm related items.
Jerome had a good sense of humor and enjoyed meeting new people, he never new a stranger. He enjoyed fishing with his kids and spending time with his grandchildren. In his spare time Jerome could be found gambling at a casino.
His greatest accomplishments were his three sons and he loved watching them grow and develop throughout the years. Jerome was a 32 degree Mason. He served as the Worshipful Master in the San Acacio Lodge until it merged with the Masonic Lodge in Alamosa. He also served for many years as the Chairman of the Sierra Grande School Board.
Jerome is survived by is wife Kathy Parsons of Alamosa; his children Jeff (Kerry) Parsons of Durango, Blake Parsons of Canon City and Mark (Jessica) Parsons of Colorado Springs; his grandchildren Kaitlyn, Lindsi, Sadie, Mahlon, Haley, David Denhardt, Tyler and Brenden Parsons; his brothers Louis (Paula) Parsons of Alamosa and Jason (Karen) Parsons of Dallas, TX ; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
His parents, his granddaughter Jaidyn and his sister Joyce Cruff preceded him in death.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Feed Store Church in Monte Vista. Contributions are suggested to the San Luis Care Center and may be made through Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa
