Obituary for James Richard Healey

Walsenburg- James Richard Healey, 66, passed away in Walsenburg, Colorado at the Spanish Peaks Veterans Community on June 2, 2016. James was born on May 4, 1950 to William and Ethel Healey in Gloversville, New York. He married the love of his life, Marjorie Adler, on July 10, 1982 in San Pablo, Colorado. They raised four amazing children together and enjoyed every bit of time they had together.

James was a very smart man. He loved learning new things and that led him to attend much more school than most. So much in fact that he got two separate Associates Degrees. James was also a veteran of the Vietnam War and was a soldier through and through. Although the war ended years ago he fought like a soldier till the very end.

He also influenced many young children other than just his own. He strived to be that person they could look up to and always was there to comfort them and give them advice. One of James’s favorite things to do was go fishing. He would spend hours out there fishing trying to catch a big one which always eluded him to his dismay. When he wasn’t fishing it wasn’t uncommon to see him parked in front of the TV cheering on his favorite wrestler in the WWE. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling so much that he wanted to keep watching even after his passing. James had such a big heart for everyone. His family was his complete world. He was a loving husband, and a strong supportive father for his children and will always be remembered and loved by each of them
.
James is survived by his loving wife Marjorie Healey of Alamosa. His children; Thea Healey of Alamosa. Christine Healey of Alamosa, Debra (Diego) Montoya of Alamosa, and Nick Adler of Carlton, Texas. His grandson, Gavin James Montoya. His siblings; Debra Sheeley of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Mike (Monica) Healey of Ft. Plain, New York, Mary (Paul) Puznowski of Dodgeville, New York, Missy Healy-Brown of Ft Plain, New York, and Joe Healey of Brandon, Florida. As well as numerous other nieces, nephews, family members and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; William Miller Healey and Ethel Healey. And one sister, Lyne Heeley.

Cremation was chosen and entrusted to Rogers Family Mortuary. A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home.
