Herbert Martinez passed away at his home on July 6th, 2019. He was born April 5th, 1942 in Arroyo Hondo New Mexico to Dilio and Cidelia Martinez. He met his wife, Juanita Martinez, while he was serving in the US Army. They were married on May 14th, 1964 in El Paso Texas.
Herbert was known for constantly telling jokes to everyone. He was a friend to all that met him. He had many jobs after he left the irrigation business. One of his great passions was driving his semi-trailer across the states.
He is survived by his son, Herbert Martinez Jr, his daughters, Olivia and her husband Leroy Romero, Annette and her husband Doug Campbell and Violet Martinez. He was a loving grandpo to six grandchildren Leah Marie, Angela, Kyle, Olivia Rose, Leon & Delilah and one great grand-daughter Ayla. He was the 2nd eldest of his siblings, Art Martinez, Phyllis Griffis, Orlando (Joann) Martinez, Harry (Rachel) Martinez, Kenneth (Eva) Martinez, and Mae (Max) Salazar. He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, daughter Theresa, parents Dilio and Cidelia, brothers Harry and Art Martinez & great-grandson Andrew Levi.
Cremation was chosen, and a Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3rd, at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista. Family and friends will gather after the memorial at The Valley Church of the Nazarene to celebrate his life.
