Obituary for Harvey Albert Teyler

Harvey Albert Teyler was born May 24, 1936 in Minot, North Dakota to Adi and Selma Teyler. He graduated from Drake High School in Drake, ND and attended and played football at Minot State University in Minot, ND. Harvey went on to enlist in the United States Navy in 1954; he was stationed Thule, Greenland and Argentia, Newfoundland serving as an aerographer’s mate, leading icebreaker ships through the channel. After four years of service and a rank of Aerographers Mate Petty Officer 2nd Class, he returned to Minot State and met his future wife, Eunice, in 1958. They married on February 21, 1960 and had four beautiful daughters. As a family, they made their home in Glasgow, MT, Bismarck, ND, Grand Island, NE, Rochester, MN, and ended his career as a meteorologist for NOAA after 35 years in Alamosa.
After failed retirement from NOAA, Harvey worked for Wright Farms, 3S Farms, Alamosa Mosquito Control, the United States Census Bureau, The Alamosa News, and The Valley Courier. Harvey served on various community boards including the San Luis Valley Regional and State Science Fair, Alamosa School Board, Blue Peaks, and the Alamosa Ranch Board. He was an avid photographer, loved fishing year round, playing Hearts with his family, and cheering on the Denver Broncos. He unconditionally loved his children, grandchildren, and family.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Eunice Teyler; his four daughters Suzanne Kelnhofer (Steve) of Joy, IL; Colleen Hurst (Mike) of Del Norte, CO; Hope (Mark) of Salt Lake City, UT; and Holly (Kyle) Teyler-Crowder of Delta, CO; son-in-law Mark Smith of Clovis, NM; grandchildren Sara (Quincy) of Normal, IL; Joseph (Frederick) of Las Vegas, NV, Jonathan (Bethany) of Grandview, IA, Teyler (Janine) of Monte Vista, CO, Matthew (Ashley) of Monte Vista, CO, Elizabeth of Alamosa, CO; and Timothy of Clovis, NM; and Justin Kelnhofer of Normal, IL; great grandchildren Kaci, Adi, Jonathan, Ryelan, Connor, Terance, Taylor, Michael, and Michelle, as well as twin great grandsons due in April; and brother Harold (Pat) of Sioux Falls, SD.
He is preceded in death by his parents Adi and Selma, his daughters Tracy and Molly, and several grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
A public viewing will be held Friday, December 26th from 5:00-7:00 at Rogers Family Mortuary. The celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 27th at 1:00 at Living Water Bible Fellowship in Alamosa, CO.
Memorial donations can be made to the Valley Humane League, Parkview Foundation at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, and the San Luis Valley Regional Science Fair in care of Rogers Family Mortuary.
