Harry A. Fluck was born in Marion, Illinois on January 19, 1940, and was the 2nd of 7 children born to Alfred “Mutt” Fluck and Ida Broeking Fluck. He graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois in 1962 with a Bachelor’s of Science, and received his Masters in Forest Management from Michigan State University in 1969 after serving in the Air Force for a 5 year tour.
In 1965, he met and married Patricia “Pat” K. Chrouch Fluck in Germany while serving his tour of duty in the Air Force. After returning to the States and achieving his Master Degree, the couple moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado where Harry began his career with the US Forest Service. All 3 of the couple’s children were born there. Harry and Pat finally settled in South Fork, Colorado in 1978 after being transferred all over Colorado, to raise their 3 children. In 1992, Harry was sworn in as the first Mayor of South Fork, and he proudly served multiple terms as both Mayor and Town Trustee. Harry retired from the Forest Service in February 1995, and received a phone call shortly before his retirement party that his first grandchild was being born. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, spending time with family and friends, and ATVing in the forest he loved.
Harry is survived by his wife Pat, his children - Henry Fluck (Tammy Bur Fluck), James Richards (Amber Robinson) and Ellie Fluck, and his grandchildren - Hank Fluck (Amber Jones Fluck), Dane Fluck, and Zackary Richards, and his brothers and sisters – Louis Fluck, Susie Tregoning (Dennis Tregoning), Linda Eckols, Judy Peebles (John Peebles) and John Fluck (Janice Fluck). He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred “Mutt” Fluck and Ida Broeking Fluck, and his brother Phillip Fluck.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at the Chapel of the South Fork, Sunday, December 19th, 2021 at 2 PM followed by an Ice Cream Social to celebrate Harry’s life.
