Obituary for Guy O'Donnal Scheibe

Longtime valley resident Guy O’Donnal “Don” Scheibe, 80, passed away on September 7, 2019. He was born on June 5, 1939 in Alamosa, Colorado to Guy Jesse and Susan Louise (Westbrook) Scheibe.
Don married Saramae Beth Myers on June 14, 1963 and their family were Sealed for time and eternity in the Provo Temple on April 20, 1983. Don worked for many years as a Cal Gas serviceman and also at Gibson’s Service Station as a gas attendant and delivering propane around the San Luis Valley. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings. He was also a member of the La Jara Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years. He enjoyed archery, hunting and camping. He played sports in high school and continued playing sports in church basketball & softball teams. He encouraged all of his children to play sports either in school or on church teams.

He is survived by his children, Donald “Scott” Scheibe (Sandra) of Phoenix, Arizona, Rhona Louise (Steve) Hanley of Maricopa, Arizona, Erica Diane Scheibe of Del Norte, Colorado, Alan Dean (Lisa) Scheibe of Sanford, and Mary Elizabeth Scheibe of Littleton, Colorado as well as his grandchildren, Kimberly Scheibe, Meagan Wright, Naomi Scheibe, Sierra Scheibe, Victoria Scheibe, Alyssa Scheibe, Elizabeth Rhoades, Emily Rhoades, Hailey Rhoades; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rhonda Main, his wife and his grandchildren, Trevor and Tyler Johnson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday September 14, 2019 at the La Jara Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Between Walnut & Broadway on County Rd 136 La Jara) A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in the La Jara Cemetery.
