Longtime valley resident Geraldine “Geri” Martinez, 58, passed away on February 19, 2023. She was born on October 10, 1964 in La Jara, Colorado to Samuel Leonard and Erna Lorraine (Mares) Martinez. She married Levi Silva on June 22, 2016. Geri received her Certified Nurses Aide License and spent over twenty years helping others. She had a passion for service to others and was a loving, caring and kind woman. She cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren and time with her son David. She also found joy in cooking and shopping and had a love for peppermint candies.

Geri is survived by her children, Samantha (Yovani, Sr.) Recinos, Francisco (Nancy) Cordova, David Palomar and Nicole (Arthur) Arellano, her grandchildren, Yovani Recinos, Jr., Ranferi Recinos, Levy Recinos, Diego Recinos, Ceasar Cordova, Nai’eli Mahan, James Mahan and AriaLeigh Geraldine Arellano and Horacio Lizma, her sisters, Alice Martinez and Becky Martinez, her nieces and nephews, Carlos Morales, Andrea Trevizo, Jose Escobar and Lourdes Martinez as well as numerous other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister Carmen Escobar.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday February 24, 2023 at the United Church of La Jara. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday February 23, 2023 with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm all at the church in La Jara. Interment will follow services.
