Dan was a good friend of mine for 45 years , We both worked at Arapahoe Chemicals , Syntex and Roche Pharmacueticals . We fished rivers and lakes in Colorado , Wyoming , Texas /Oklahoma, and La Ronge in Saskatchewan, Canada . We both were also members of Marshall Lake in Superior , Colorado . Elk hunting was always a good time with Dan the few times we went together . The most memorable fishing trip was in 1976. A group of us were headed to Chase Reservoir in Wyoming . Dan was driving his van and Ken Cordova was following in his van , They took a wrong turn and we ended on the Thompson River road I'm sure the darkness was a factor but the adult beverages didn't help . We were deciding whether to stay the night or move on , Luckily we left the canyon . The next day the canyon experienced a flash flood. It became known as the The Big Thompson Canyon Flood . We got stranded at the lake because of the heavy rains , so we decided to fish it out not knowing what was going on back home .
Dan and Sandy , Rudy and Vangie Maestas, Ken and Belinda Cordova, along with all our kids and my wife Kathy , had great camping trips through out the years . These will always be Awesome Memories . I will miss your Brother, "TIGHT LINES", Dave Manzanares
