Obituary for Ed Booth

Frazier Edwin “Ed” Booth was born January 2nd 1940 to Lois Ordean Wright and Edwin Frazier ”Bud” Booth and went to his heavenly range on February 3,2022. His family came across Mosca pass in a covered wagon in the late 1800’s and homesteaded in Mosca. They farmed there thru the late 2000’s.

Ed graduated from Mosca High School in 1958 and then went on to attend Adams State. He worked on the family farm with his folks until 1979.

In 1962 he met Lois Anderson on a blind date and it was love at first sight and they were married September 29th in Lake Park Minnesota. 2 years later the first grand child was born on both sides which was a son named Jace. Being the first he had all access to both sets of grandparents and all the aunts and uncles. He did not have to share until 4 years later when a little sister Janell arrived in April 1968.

Grandma Lois was always available to watch the grandkids while their mom Lois was working at the Alamosa Hospital as an R.N. Ed loved having his 2 kids around and were often riding on the tractor while he worked the fields. The 2 kids often ended up at grandma’s house especially at lunch time! Our other neighbor Eva Hale also spent a great amount of time watching the kids.

Ed drove millions of miles trucking and never had an accident. He always delivered the livestock in the best condition. He was a great mechanic making things work because times were hard and money was always in tight supply.

In 1977 Ed was the President of the San Luis Valley Cattlemen’s Association and Lois was President of the San Luis Valley Cowbelles. They spent a couple years travelling around the state promoting Beef and agriculture and making it the 2nd largest Association in the state. This was always a fond memory. Ed loved this valley and the lifestyle he chose. He knew the value of our water and fought AWDI to keep it here.
Ed had a heart bigger than anyone. He would drop everything to help a neighbor, friend and often strangers.
Ed and Lois with the kids moved to Conejos County in 1979 and made this their permanent home. Jace and Janell both attended Centauri and their children did the same.

In 1996, the young man that had worked for Ed’s dad showed up to work and having spent his whole adult life with our family John Glass was considered part of the family and “like a son”.

Ed loved the land; he loved his livestock and he loved riding in the mountains. He spent thousands of hours on top of a horse gazing across the beautiful mountains above Creede for over 50 years... Many times, over the years we would have a sack lunch looking down on a herd of elk or watching a black bear amble through the trees or occasionally a moose come out of the willows. Ed was a true environmentalist long before that became a thing. He knew what being a steward of the land meant and that we were all inter-dependent. He taught many life lessons to those who were fortunate enough to meet him. He was always willing to share stories, but even in the stories there were lessons. He loved this country he loved his fellow man and above all he loved his family.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents Bud and Lois Booth and Grandson Krae David Martin. Great Aunt Lorna Booth.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years and love of his life- Lois, His son Jace (Robin) Booth, Grandchildren Jayceen, Ryan, Emma, Lesondra(Noah) Kline, Sonya (Yu) Hashimoto , Mikko Sanchez. His daughter Janell (Lawrence)Martin, Kaitlynn, Kelcey and Kendrick . Honorary son John Glass, his Sister Dee (Ken) Bartee and there 2 children Marla (Bobby) Sitton and their children Kylee (Tristen and Lane)Ebbert, Josie, Madison and Dale (Deanna)Bartee and their sons Tyler and Kolby. A brother Myron (Eileen)Booth and there 2 sons Lance (Cori ) Booth Chad ( Brooke )Booth. His great uncle Jesse Booth and Cousin Bob (Terri) Booth. Numerous 2nd cousins- the Hensley’s and great nieces and nephews. His dear friends Mickey Widhelm, Dick Conley, Jim Sammons, Myrt Davis. And so many more.
