Obituary for Fernando Christopher "Bison" Lopez

Grand Junction – Fernando Christopher “Bison” Lopez, 59, passed away on November 18, 2012 in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Christopher was born on December 16, 1952 to Fernando and Esther Lopez in Morenci, Arizona. Christopher honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he worked on an oil rig for 18 years. He enjoyed leather crafting and making dream catchers, he also enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as taking care of his livestock and farming.
He is survived by his wife Donna Lou Lopez of Grand Junction, his children; Tracy Michelle Lopez of Denver, Colorado and Fernando Lopez of Grand Junction, Colorado, two grandchildren, his step-son Harold Thomas Neves of Grand Junction, his mother Esther Lopez of Manassa, Colorado, his brother Herold Lopez of Durango, Colorado and his nephews Jacob and Elijah Ortiz and Isais, Noah and Abel Lopez.
Christopher was preceded in death by his father, sister, Elaine Ortiz, nephew, Rueben Ortiz, brother-in-law, Reuben N. Ortiz and sister-in-law Gloria Ortiz.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday November 26, 2012 at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Manassa, Colorado. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa. A vigil with recitation of the rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church on Sunday evening. Burial will follow services in the Los Cerritos cemetery in Manassa. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart association and may be made in care of the funeral home.
