Obituary for Edward Christian Wiescamp

Edward Wiescamp was born May 15, 1936 in Alamosa, Colorado to Richard and Adriana Wiescamp. Ed was called home to be with his creator on March 17, 2022.

Ed was married to Judy Pace in December of 1958. They were together for over 63 years.
Ed began his working career with Kramer Flying Services as an aircraft mechanic and while there earned his pilot’s license. He also worked for Funks Engine Rebuilders, Monte Vista Airport, and Jones Construction as a mechanic. He worked construction for Clyde Van Iwarden and for Van’s Machine Shop as a machinist. The majority of his career was as a mechanic at the Colorado Department of Transportation for over 30 years.
Ed was active in the Alamosa Christian Reformed Church for his entire life. He served as a Deacon, an Elder, and youth group leader. Ed didn’t just talk the talk but walked the walk.

Ed was a hard-working and dedicated father of four children: Kim Wiescamp of Monument, CO, Cindy (Jeff) Tidswell of Colorado Springs, CO, Brian Wiescamp of Las Vegas, NV, and Brent Wiescamp of Salida, CO. Ed was the proud grandfather to three granddaughters: Kristin (CJ) Harmon of Memphis, TN, Brenna (Michael) Gibson of Eagle River, AK, and Audra (Brent) Johnson of Falcon, CO. He dearly loved his four great-grandchildren: Graham and Walt Gibson and Darrin and Malia Johnson.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Adriana, brother Gerrit Wiescamp, and sister Elsie (Wiescamp) Studebaker.

Ed enjoyed and participated in various hobbies, clubs, and activities. He built and flew radio control model airplanes. He was a member of the San Luis Valley Antique Iron club with his 1935 Model A John Deere tractor. Ed played golf for many years and lays claim to a hole in one. Ed and Judy traveled about two times per year and enjoyed trips to Nova Scotia, the Panama Canal, Alaska, New Orleans, Nashville, Disney World, and many other destinations.

Ed enjoyed working with his hands. He created Worship and Wonder figurines and buildings for children’s church at Alamosa CRC. He crafted cradles for each of his granddaughters. He was not only creative with wood but also with metal. He contributed to the restoration of the train at the entrance to Cole Park.
