Obituary for Edna T. Reason (Toole)

Edna T. Reason (Toole)
Longtime Del Norte resident Edna T. Reason passed away on September 4, 2017. She was born on February 22, 1919 in Hamilton, Colorado to Jack and Edna Toole. After attending CSU and teaching elementary school in Moffat, Edna moved to San Francisco, working for the Bank of America where she caught the eye of a handsome young man named John Reason. They were married in 1951, moving to Del Norte in 1954 where they raised three children and John went to work for the Rio Grande County Bank. Edna cherished her role as wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She poured her heart into the clothes she sewed and the pies she baked. She enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, leading 4-H and Girl Scouts. She was a faithful volunteer for the American Red Cross for many years.

Because of her capacity to care for others so deeply, she made strangers her friends and friends her family. Edna was part of a generation of women who experienced the most difficult of times, learning that hardships in life were not something to complain about, but rather challenges to overcome. She will be remembered by those who knew her as someone whose poise and dignity defined her approach to life.
Her care for the needs of others was endless, unselfishly giving without tiring, even in weakness and frailty, when all she had to give was her beautiful smile to brighten someone's day.

She is survived by her three daughters, Melanie (Wally) Stacy, Michelle (Gene) Trujillo, Melissa (Brian) Dryden; five grandchildren, Tim Nickels, Terry (Monett) Nickels, Michael (Anessa) Sisneros, Mckenzie and Brody Dryden: six great grandchildren, Tanner and Kurt Nickels; Karina and Daniel Nickels, Savina and Alicia Sisneros.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Jo Johnson, and her husband John.
Cremation was selected and a private family gathering will be held at a later time. Contributions are suggested to Colorado State Veterans Center and may be made in care of the funeral home office. To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
