Obituary for Doug Jones

Douglas Ward Jones, 64, passed away July 18, 2019 at U.C. Health Medical Center in Colorado Springs, Co. Doug was born in Las Vegas, Nevada to Douglas Leslie Jones and Mary Ann (Myers) Jones on May 29., 1955. Doug graduated from Del Norte High School in 1973. He played football at Del Norte and then went on to play at Adams State College. He had scholarships to numerous colleges around the U.S. At the height of his career, Doug was one of the most feared players in the country. Doug had a fence construction business in Oklahoma and Colorado for 30 years. Doug was an avid horseman and excelled at team roping. He was a member of the United States Team Roping Championship.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Pam, his son Morgan of Alamosa, his daughter Saralyn Jones of Aurora, his sisters Sherry Carpenter and Marge Fox Dunigan of Canon City and his brother Jack Jones of Wheatland, Wyoming. Doug is also survived by numerous nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Doug and Mary Ann Jones.

Services for Doug will be held on Monday July 29, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Rogers Family Mortuary chapel in Monte Vista with Burial to follow at the Monte Vista Cemetery.
