Dolores “Dee Dee” Francis Tuxhorn, 88, passed away on May 14, 2017. She was born on March 30, 1929, in Denver, Colorado to William and Ruth Landureth. She married Everett Herman Tuxhorn in Denver, Colorado on March 17, 1946.

She was a dedicated church member serving in many ways: teaching children in Vacation Bible School and Sunday School, serving dinners, running a used clothing ministry, visiting the sick and shut ins with her husband of 57 years, and singing. She was a dedicated and proud Pastor’s wife. She loved to sing, sew and embroider, garden, clean house, and cook. She loved animals, especially dogs and cats and one pet pig. She also enjoyed traveling and had seen many states in her retirement. She loved her family and taught her children the importance of education. All of her children hold at least one college degree. She enjoyed her friends and extended family and served them any way she could.

Dolores is survived by her children, Judith (John) Tillman of Monte Vista, Carol (David) Schutte of Aurora, Elaine (Knud) Pederson of Wylie, Texas, and Everett (Carla) Tuxhorn of Healy, Kansas, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, her sister, Rosemary (Joe) McNeilan of Strasburg as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Everett, her sisters, Ruth Foster and Alice Schurch, and her brother William Landureth.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday May 18, 2017, at the Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Byers, Colorado. A visitation will be held at the church, prior to the service on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow services in the Byers Community Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Mount Tabor Baptist Church and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
