Obituary for Deloris Ann Ward

Longtime Alamosa resident Deloris Ward, 76, died January 21, 2013 at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa.
Deloris was born in Percival, Iowa on March 11, 1936 the daughter of Phillip Glenn and Daisy Ruth (Burns) Sturdevant. She married her husband of 54 years, Richard “Dick” Paul Ward in Corning, Iowa on May 19, 1954, who preceded her in death.
Deloris was a homemaker. She enjoyed the beautiful outdoors and spent lots of time in the mountains jeeping, camping and enjoying wildlife with her husband and family. She enjoyed feeding her birds and could name almost every one of them. She loved to set out hummingbird feeders and would attract so many that it was hard to count their fast little buzzing bodies. She was known for her keen eyes, having the ability to spot wild game a mile away with an “eagle’s eye”. She loved to laugh and would crack jokes to make herself laugh.
She is survived by her children; Richard (Phyllis) Ward, Jr. of Berthoud, CO, Michael (Linda) Ward of Alamosa, Teddy Ward of Alamosa and Lori Carr of Berthoud, CO; her sister Glenda (Tiger) Fredricks of Corning, Iowa and Phillip (Willa) Sturdevant of Pelsor, Arkansas; her brother-in-law Dick Westlake of Brooks, Iowa; eight grandchildren; Sean Ward, Timothy Carr (Mariah) of Pueblo, Kimberly (Kris) Vigil of Colorado Springs, Jesse Ward (Amy Oaks) of Alamosa, Michelle Ward (LJ Garcia) of Alamosa, Daisy Ward of Indiana, Dennis McFeley, Justin Rangle. A handful of great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Her parents, her husband, her sister Edith Brown, her brother-in-law Jerry Brown, her sister Virginia Westlake, an infant sister Arsula and another infant, all preceded her in death.
Cremation was chosen and Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Eagleville, Missouri.
