Obituary for Debora Kay Smith

Longtime Bountiful resident Debora Kay Smith, 63, passed away peacefully January 9, 2019 at her home in Bountiful surrounded by family, while under Hospice care.

Kay was born in Alamosa, Colorado on October 4, 1955 to George Smith and Lynn Schofield Smith. She married her husband of more than 43 years, Stephen Wayne Smith in Alamosa, Colorado on February 8, 1975.

She enjoyed the outdoors spending time with her family on their ranch. She also enjoyed; camping, fishing and hunting. Debora was always looking for beautiful rocks while enjoying her time in the mountains. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening and flowers. Kay owned and operated Bountiful Video store in La Jara for 31 years and loved her work and visiting with the customers. Kay’s most favored times were those spent with her family and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Stephen Smith of Bountiful; her children Raymond (Lori) Smith of Bountiful, Ryan (Brandi) Smith of Fruita, CO, Clinton (Alisha) Smith of Salida, CO and Cole Smith of Bountiful; her grandchildren Chance, Logan and Dakota, (Ray & Lori) Emma and Lane, (Ryan & Brandi) Ethan and Olivia; (Clinton & Alisha) her sister Georgia (Gene) Kuykendall of Tres Piedras, NM; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family and friends.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Carl Smith.

A Visitation will be held in the Relief Society Room at the La Jara Wards Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 9:45-10:45 am, followed by the funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in the La Jara Cemetery following the funeral services. Contributions in lieu of flowers are suggested to Hospice del Valle.
