Alamosa resident Daniel Claude Martinez, 85, passed away on October 30, 2021. He was born on September 8, 1936 in Saguache, Colorado to Fred and Elvira (Mondragon) Martinez. He married Celia Garcia and they spent 42 years of their life together, until Celia’s passing in 2015. Danny served his country honorably for many years in the United States Air Force. He retired from the military in 1975 after 20 years of service. He was the Director of the Defense Commissary Agency for 21 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, working on his yard and visiting friends.

He is survived by his children, Kenny (Roberta) Martinez and Dennis (June) Martinez, his grandchildren, Danell (Frank) Martinez, A.J. (Lynae) Martinez, Anna (Paul) Lovato, Angela (Sergio) Martinez, Brenda (Robert) Guerra and Michael (Shelly) Martinez, his great grandchildren, Adrina, Domonique, Frankie Rose, Madison, Ajay, Sofia, Darrian, Robert Jr., Daniel, Noah and Eva, his siblings William (Lala) Martinez and Helen (Robert) Haymen, as well as numerous extended family members.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, his daughters, Theresa Martinez and Debra Martinez, his sisters Sara Maez and Freda Martinez.

Cremation was selected and the burial service will be held on November 13, 2021 at 12:00pm at the Colorado State Veteran Cemetery in Monte Vista,CO . To express condolences, please visit www.rogers funerals.com
