Obituary for Daniel Albin Husmann

Longtime and well known Alamosa resident Daniel “Dan” A. Husmann, 72, passed away May 1, 2013 at the Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lonetree.
Dan was born to Edwin and Dorothy Markus-Husmann on August 30, 1940 in Breeze, Illinois. He married Janet Sue Poese on September 8, 1962 in Bridgeton, Missouri. Dan moved to St. Louis, Missouri and joined the National Guard. He then met and married Janet in 1962 and began his life as a Plumber. He also started his horse business the “Lazy H Ranch” where he offered trail and hay rides and boarded horses. He ran this until the state of Missouri decided to place a highway right through the property so they decided to relocate to Colorado in 1972. With the help of his family Dan started Husmann Plumbing in 1976, which is still in operation today.
Dan had a love for the mountains. He spent many hours riding horses in the mountains and would frequently ride over the next ridge or hill to just see the view. Dan also enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He also was instrumental in the founding of the Alamosa Round-up Rodeo and Demolition Derby which is still one of the most popular events still taking place every summer. Dan also enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the local Elks chapter.
He is survived by his wife Janet of the family home; his children Mark (Cheryl) Husmann of Delta, CO, Mike (Sabrina) Husmann, Monica Sue (Mike Heimsoth) Husmann, Matt (Terri) Husmann, and Marty (Corriena) Husmann all of Alamosa. His grandchildren Jason, David, Michelle, Mikie, Steven, Nikki, John, Daniel, Tyler, Kylie, Katie, Braydon, Gabe, Haylee, Austin, Jaylen and Chase. His great-grandchildren Parker, Emily, Payson, Jaxon and Aspen. His brothers Marvin (Helen) Husmann and Jimmy (Gail) Husmann; his sister Kay (Buddy) Gammon and his sister-in-law Claire Husmann, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
His parents and his brother Dave Husmann preceded him in death.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5th at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. A Funeral Service will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at the River of Life Assembly of God Church in Alamosa. Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery.
