Obituary for Daniel Joaquin Gutierrez

Lakewood – Alamosa resident Daniel Joaquin Gutierrez, 29, passed away on February 14, 2014 at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado.
Joaquin was born on July 24, 1984 in Alamosa, Colorado to Danny Gutierrez and Georgianna Herrera Gutierrez. Joaquin was a 2003 graduate of Alamosa High School. He attended Trinidad State Junior College and received his building trade certificate and later went on to attend Mesa University in Grand Junction to focus on Lineman school. Following his time in Grand Junction he moved to Castle Rock, where he worked for Colorado Power Lines as a linesman. Following his time in Castle Rock he moved back to Alamosa and took a position at Big R as a hardware sales associate.
Daniel enjoyed fishing, watching football, especially the Broncos and got a lot of fulfillment from helping Anthony Jojola detailing cars and going rabbit hunting with his friends. His greatest love in life was his daughter Leah Marie Gutierrez, he truly enjoyed spending any time that he could with her.
He is survived by his wife Irene Gutierrez, daughter Leah Marie Gutierrez both of Alamosa, his parents Danny and Georgianna Gutierrez of Alamosa, his sister, Michelle (Rennie) DeLuna of Pueblo, his brother, Antonio (Andrea Lovato) Gutierrez of Alamosa, his nieces and nephews; Erica (Gabe Lopez) DeLuna, Kelly DeLuna and Nathaniel DeLuna, his maternal grandmother Ramona Herrera of Del Norte, his aunts and uncles; Tom (Fran) Herrera of Monte Vista, Rudy (Lillian) Herrera of Del Norte, Joe (Bernice) Herrera of Pueblo, Judy Herrera of Del Norte and Jennie (Clyde) Graves of Colorado Springs as well as numerous cousins and extended family.
Joaquin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Tony and Francis Gutierrez and uncle Frank Gutierrez as well as his maternal grandfather Onecimo Herrera and aunt, Sally Guerra.
Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday February 19, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall. A visitation will be held on Tuesday February 18, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Inurnment of ashes will take place at a later time.
