Monte Vista resident Curtis Wayne Hart, 64, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 at his home in Monte Vista after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer.

Curtis was born October 9, 1950 in Monte Vista to Charles Cecil Hart and Llewina Parker Hart.

He attended schools in Center and Sargent, CO and graduated from Loveland, CO High School.

Curtis was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was called to serve a mission in Ireland in 1969. In 1973, he was married to Dee Ann Steving, and they had four children.

He attended schools for Machine Design, Civil Drafting, Business Administration and Accounting; however, what he really enjoyed was driving 18 wheelers over the road. He did this for many years, and he especially enjoyed driving in the Northwestern United States.

After retiring as an over-the-road truck driver in 2008, he married Marian Hathcock Hansen, a childhood friend.

Curtis enjoyed working on cars, building things out of wood, helping others, and spending time with family, especially his wife. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed visiting with everyone.

In May of 2011, Curtis started working for Mathias Concrete, Inc. in Monte Vista. IN all of his years working, Curtis never had employers like these before. They are very good to their employees, and the bonds of friendship that he formed with them and his co-workers were extremely important to him. Curtis was very disappointed when he could no longer work, due to his illness. Throughout his illness, his employers were very kind, generous and supportive.

He is survived by his wife Marian L. Hart of Monte Vista; his children April Hart, B.J. Hart (Amy), Casey Hart (Megan) of Loveland, CO, Dustin Hart (Denise) of Johnstown, CO; Tanya Hansen (Laura Van Cleve) of Dallas, TX; Jasen Hansen (Cindy) and David Hansen (Kendra) of Alamosa, CO; siblings Pat Thompson (John) of Loveland, Chuck Hart (Donna) of Fort Collins, CO, Debbie Crowe (Bruce) of Thornton, CO; Larry Hart of Alamosa; his grandchildren Zoey, Haley, Torsten and Reese Hart, Christian, Ava, Alexander and Reese Hansen; as well as numerous extended family members.

Curtis is preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, a sister-in-law and a nephew.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6th at the Rogers Family Mortuary, 404 Morris St, in Monte Vista. A second Visitation will be held in the Primary Room at the Rio Grande Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 9:00-9:45 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2015 followed by funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow services in the Monte Vista Cemetery.
