Obituary for Cordelia Gurule

Mosca resident Cordelia U. Gurule, 79, died April 21, 2013 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.
Cordelia was born February 27, 1934 in Middle Mesa, New Mexico the daughter to Carlos and Brigida Salazar Ulibarri. She married John F. Gurule on December 5, 1949 in Durango, Colorado and they enjoyed 63 years together.
Cordelia worked for many years as a Cook at the Sangre de Cristo School in Mosca. In her younger years she loved to play the guitar and sing. She also liked to draw, sketch and take pictures of her family. She enjoyed walking in the mountains, fishing and gardening, but above all loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband John Gurule of Mosca; her children Bill Gurule of Mosca and Brigida (Randy) Archuleta of El Rito, New Mexico; her grandchildren Kristina L. (Brian) Taffin, Jason L. (Jennifer) Gurule, Matthew C. Marquez, Wesley J. (Malerie) Marquez and Casey J. Marquez; nine great-grandchildren; her sisters Dora (Ike) Rivera of Durango, Teodorita Avina of Farmington, NM and Johnny Salazar of Salt Lake City, UT; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
Her parents, her son Ernie Gurule, her brothers and sisters Cleo Corrales, Manuel Ulibarri, Vicenta Garcia, Carlos M. Ulibarri, Flavio Ulibarri, Juanita Archuleta and Cecelia Valdez all preceded her in death.
Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Alamosa Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
