Obituary for Clinton Deon Cunningham
Alamosa resident Clinton Deon Cunningham, 75, passed away peacefully September 22, 2014 at his home in Alamosa under hospice care. Clint was born in Center, Colorado on June 1, 1939, the son of Ernest and Marie Castoe Cunningham. He served in the United States Navy for four years and was honorably discharged in 1960. He was very proud of his service in the Navy.
Clint married his first wife Margie Heiman Cunningham and to this union four children were born. Margie preceded him in death in 1999. Clint married Debbie Refior on October 18, 1986 in Sargent and they have enjoyed the last 27 years together.
Clint worked throughout the valley and until his retirement in 2004 for Holsom Breads/Sarah Lee as a distributor. He loved spending time supporting his children and grandchildren in their sporting activities. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed teasing and terrorizing his grandchildren. In his spare time, Clint enjoyed fishing and boating. Clint was an avid Denver Broncos and Nascar fan.
He is survived by his wife Debbie Cunningham of Alamosa; his children Kelly (Chris) Maraschin of Grand Junction, CO, Kevin (Leslie) Cunningham of Victor, CO, Ken Cunningham and Kerri (Tyler) Kingery both of Canon City, CO; his brothers and sisters Bill (Diana) Cunningham of Arizona, LaVona (Jay) Smith of Albuquerque, NM, and Larry Dean (Beverly) Cunningham of Cortez; his grandchildren Ashton, Hayden, Madisyn, Alyssa, Nic and Christopher; as well as his great-grandson Mason and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Clint is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Margie, his sister Doni Moore and his brother Robert Cunningham.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the family home, 5140 County Road 6 South in Alamosa. Contributions in his memory are suggested to either the Joni Fair Hospice House, 1107 Pueblo Blvd Way, Pueblo, CO 81005 or to Hospice del Valle, 514 Main Street, Alamosa, CO 81101.
