Obituary for Cheryl Ann Janes (Ruddy)

Cheryl Ann Janes, age 75, best known as Sherry, died peacefully on January 27, 2022, at Rio Grande Inn in La Jara, Colorado of dementia-related complications.

Sherry will be remembered as the author of the two books, Spirit Song - Cape of the Red Jaguar and Spirit Song - Seeds in the Blood.

Cheryl Ann's adopted parents were James E. Ruddy, and Adele Babst Ruddy. She came to them, July 27, 1946, from the Children's Home Society of MN, Saint Paul, MN. Sherry spent her growing up years in MN, and married Donald N. Janes in 1977. They divorced in 1999. They had no children.

Sherry spent time in MN caring for her parents till they died, then moved with her husband to AZ. There she worked for a naturopath doctor and learned about the healing properties of plants and herbs. She trained to become a massage therapist, then moved to Denver, CO to teach at a massage school. She spent many years in the Denver and Monument areas of Colorado.

Sherry moved to the San Luis Valley in 2016 at the same time as many of her friends. She bought a house in San Luis, and started to write the third book in the planned trilogy, but sadly that was never completed. She lived there until ongoing problems with dementia forced her to leave. Sherry will be remembered by her friends as a fun loving, cheerful and witty person who loved chocolate & a good margarita.

Thank you to the staff at Visiting Angels of Alamosa; The Bridge at Alamosa, Hospice del Valle, Alamosa and the Rio Grande Inn of La Jara, for her care in her final years.

Cremation was arranged with Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa, Colorado. Donations in her name are accepted for the Children's Home Society of MN, Visiting Angels, and Hospice del Valle, both in Alamosa. CO. To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
