Obituary for Gene Ward

Bruce Eugene “Gene” Ward, 90, passed away on May 3, 2022 in Aurora, Colorado. He was born on August 20, 1931 in Saguache, Colorado to Robert and Lenore (Jaquez) Ward. He married Phyllis Marie Solomon on August 16, 1952 in Saguache, Colorado. They were married for 59 wonderful years before her passing.

Gene was a multifaceted person who enjoyed many things including fishing, gardening, planting flowers, jigsaw puzzles, traveling and camping with his family. He was a huge fan of John Wayne and was fortunate enough to meet him. He loved the gameshow channel, bull riding and old western movies. Gene was fortunate to work for the Colorado Department of Highway as a project Engineer for 40 years which we greatly enjoyed.

He is survived by his children, Diane Gutierrez of Aurora, Colorado, Michael (Dawn) Ward of Denver, Colorado, Gary (Carla) Ward of Midland, Texas and Debbie (Kenneth) Marquez of Aurora, Colorado, his grandchildren, Amy and William Ward, Tiffany (Waddy) Altman and Timothy Ward, Kayla (Jaysen) Nakano and Darian Marquez as well as great-grandchildren, Trystan, Trinity and Kylo Ward, Ashton and Jet Altman, Sora Nakano and his sister Sharon Abeyta of Gunnison, Colorado.

We are requesting everyone wear red in honor of Gene as we all know red was his signature color.
