Former Alamosa resident Brian Walter Husung, 77, died February 19, 2022 at his home in Sheridan, California surrounded by his loving family.
Brian was born in Alamosa, Colorado to Martin J. and Grace E. Husung (Reidy) on May 12, 1944. He married Lou Anne Husung (Cody) on April 11, 1970 in Alamosa.
Brian worked for many years with his father at Husung Plumbing and Heating, in which he later owned and expanded. Later, Brian worked at Southwest Pipeline in Alamosa and Cobb Mechanical where he worked on the new federal prison being built in Florence, Colorado. Brian last worked for Vendola Plumbing and Heating prior to retiring and assisting Lou Anne with BLH Sales.
Brian enjoyed hunting, camping, riding motorcycles and shooting sporting clays. He also liked going to the lake on the weekend with family and friends where he would race anyone that would accept the challenge in his boat named Mama’s Mink III. He loved to go on Sunday drives to the mountains to explore and shoot targets with his family and friends.
Brian was a lifelong member of the Alamosa Elks Lodge. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Del Monte Gun Club. He assisted with the Alamosa Balloon Rally, the Early Iron Festival, and many shooting events that were held at the Del Monte Gun Club.
Brian will be remembered as a very supportive husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was always known as a jack of all trades and a wealth of knowledge by his peers and co-workers.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend, Lou Anne. He is survived by his sons Brent (Jennifer) Husung of Gardnerville, NV, and Bruce (Gabriela) Husung of Sheridan, CA; his grandchildren Katelin (David) Garcia, Hailey Husung, Ashlynn (Jesse) Gilner, Caitlyn Husung, Hudson Hants, Wyatt Husung, Jackson Hants, his sister Kathleen Reynolds of Denver, CO, Karen Husung of Denver, CO, his brother Richard Husung of Denver, CO as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. His father Martin and mother Grace also preceded him in death.
Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alamosa. Interment of ashes for both Brian and Lou Anne will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Brian are suggested to the Del Monte Gun Club,
