Fourth generation Mosca resident Arthur “Art” Ellis Brown, 89, died October 11, 2017 at his home in Mosca surrounded by his family.

Art was born February 3, 1928 in Mosca, Colorado to Harry Edward and Pansy Garrett Brown. He married Thurmma Rena Eagle on September 1, 1951 in Alamosa.

Art was a rural mail carrier in the Mosca area and was active in the Mosca community.

Art is survived by; his sister Barbara Dodds of California, his children Jerry Brown of Mosca, Marvin Brown of Hooper, Judy Jeffs of Mosca, Randy (MaryAnn) Brown of Alamosa, Wayne (Faye) Brown of Alamosa, Cristie (Mark) Taffin of Ashland, OH and Mick Brown of Mosca; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter and nieces and nephews.

His parents, his wife, his 3 brothers Floyd, Jim and Harry E. Jr, 3 sisters Lola, Edith and Dorothy, his grandson Brian David Brown and his daughter-in-law Ginger Brown preceded him in death.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm. Friday, October 20th at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21st at the Sangre de Cristo School Gymnasium in Mosca followed by interment in the Rito Alto Cemetery. Contributions in his memory are suggested to Mosca-Hooper Volunteer Fire Dept. and may be made through the funeral home office.
