Obituary for Anthony Vittoria

Anthony “Tony” Vittoria, a great man, left this world on February 3rd, 2017. He was born in Portland, Oregon on September 20th, 1931. He was raised in Portland by his Italian immigrant parents, Giuseppi Vittoria and Cecilia Firella Vittoria. Tony was the 6th of 9 children.

Tony enlisted in the Navy in 1951, and excelled as a radio technician. He honorably concluded his service in 1955 as a Petty Officer 3rd Class. Tony received several medals during his 4 years of service; Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the China Service Medal.

Tony married Helen Diane Rainey, on August 7th, 1959. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple on March 17, 1967. He served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They raised 4 children in Portland, Oregon. Tony was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his dear wife very much, and worked hard all his life to provide for his family. His career included 26 years working for Burlington Northern Railroad.

Tony is survived by; his dear wife of 57 years, and his daughters, Dawn Vittoria, Vickie Hill (Ron), Alice Mecham (Steve), and daughter-in-law, Patti Vittoria, brother Sam Vittoria, and sisters Nancy Woodrome and Rosemary McDonald, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Tony was preceded in death by his son Michael Vittoria, his parents, and 6 siblings.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, from 4-7pm at Rogers Family, Mortuary at 205 State Avenue in Alamosa, Colorado.

There will be a second viewing from 9-10am on Saturday, February 11th at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, UT. Following the viewing, a graveside service will take place at the Spanish Fork Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah, beginning around 10:30am.
