Obituary for A.J. Hughey
A.J. Hughey, 86 passed away peacefully June 18, 2020. He was born June 14, 1934 to Almus and Cuma (Johnson) Hughey and spent his early years in Missouri.
A.J. moved to the San Luis Valley in 1976 where eventually he would have a business installing and servicing garage doors, for many communities across the valley. He was grateful to have the opportunity to have his own business and provide a service to the San Luis Valley, a place he was always happy to call home. In later years he enjoyed traveling, especially to Arizona. He especially took great delight in all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A.J. is survived by his daughter Brenda (Jay) Adams, his grandchildren Seth (Ashli) Adams of Monte Vista, Colorado, Audra (Brandon) Varner of Frederick, Oklahoma and Dylan Adams of Jupiter, Florida, his great-grandchildren Todd Adams, Taylor Adams, Cade Varner, Brinley Varner, Kylie Varner and Kody Varner, his siblings Ollene Hunter and Johnnie Marler as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A.J. was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Dennis Hughey, Dalton Hughey and Mary Francis (Hughey) Gardner.
Cremation was chosen and a family gathering to honor our dad, grandpa and great-grandpa will be held at a later date.
