Albert William Rathburn, Jr.
Albert left his earthly home on December 29, 2020 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was born on July 12th, 1948 in Douglas, Arizona. His parents were Albert William Rathburn Sr. and Dorothy Alberta Wood.
Albert enjoyed life to the fullest with his brothers and sisters in several states like Arizona and New Mexico and many more. His brothers and sisters include Ann Jones (Arizona), Kenneth Hazelwood (passed 2010), Martha Basham (Arizona), Rose Lynch (Washington), Dollie Morgan (Washington), Dale Rathburn (Arizona) and Lloyd Rathburn (Washington).
After serving our country faithfully and honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He came to Colorado to be with his dad in February of 1972. This is where he met the love of his life. He was 22 and she was 15. After three days of knowing her, she told him she was going to marry him. As life goes on, Albert married the love of his life, Jean Kaye Christensen on July 5, 1974 in Manassa, Colorado. On may 25, 1976 they were sealed in the Mesa, Arizona Temple, for all time and eternity. They lived in several states where their family started. Travis and his wife Cindy are now in Alamosa, Troy and his wife Debra are in Chico, California, Todd is in Alamosa and Taya and her husband Jon also reside in Alamosa As his family grew, he was blessed with grandchildren. Christian (21), William (19), Marriee (14) and Randiee (11).
Albert had several church callings (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). He loved being with his friends and playing sports. He had several jobs during his life, which included working for Coca Cola, an apartment manager and a logger in the woods with his father. Late in his life he went back to school at Butte Community College. It was there he found his true love of working the camera. After finishing a few years at Butte College, he was hired on at the local news station, Action News Now. He stayed there until his health started to decline.
In March of 2019, Albert, Jean and their son Todd came home to Colorado. Settling in Alamosa. Albert enjoyed life to the fullest. Everyone will miss this honorable man. As he would say, “Don’t cry over me, I am happy and will see you again, everyone.” Some of his famous lines were “Happy Day” and “Better than I deserve”. He would tell that to everyone just to brighten their day. He will be missed, but we will see him again.
