Obituary for Logan David Martinez

Logan David Martinez, 32 passed away in a car accident on October 29th, 2019.

Logan was born and raised in Alamosa, CO along with his two older sisters Natalie and Megan by his parents David and Kimberly Martinez. He graduated from Alamosa High School in 2007. He attended Trinidad State Jr. College in Trinidad for two years earning certificates in welding and diesel mechanics.

Logan began his welding career in the Valley and then moved all around Colorado as an ironworker. He then earned his CDL and worked in the oil industry as a tanker driver. Logan was known for his strong work ethic.
Logan loved the outdoors and all animals and insects great and small. As a child you would often find him exploring and looking for his next “family pet”. He felt most at home when he was out in nature fishing and hunting. Logan earned his Eagle Scout Award in 2005.

In high school Logan loved competing in football, wrestling, and track. He was a proud member of the 2006 3A State Champion Football Team. He also still holds the 200 meter record at Alamosa High School. He was known for always leaving 110% out on the field or track.

Life for Logan wasn’t always easy but he always persevered with great resilience and determination. Logan loved his friends and made friends easy. His family appreciates all the wonderful memories that friends and family have shared. We would love to have a record of any and all loving memories of Logan. Logan is survived by his loving parents David and Kimberly Martinez, sisters Natalie (Aaron) Prestwich, Megan (Jeremy) Armstrong; five nephews: Marcus, Luke, & Benjamin Prestwich and Mitchell & Jameson Armstrong.; His grandparents Chris (Kathy) Martinez, Virginia Kelly and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Logan was preceded in death and greeted in heaven by his grandmother Betty Martinez, grandfather John Kelly, and great grandfather Sostenez Martinez.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9th at the Alamosa Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 927 Weber Dr. in Alamosa, CO. A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 8th at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Everyone is invited to a luncheon immediately following the services. Interment will follow the luncheon at the Alamosa Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the JAM Foundation a 501 C3 charitable organization to support a CARD (Center for Autistic and Related Disorders) in Yuma, CO. The CARD center will support Logan’s nephew Mitchell Armstrong with Autism and other children in North Eastern Colorado. Donations can be taken to San Luis Valley Federal Bank under the JAM Foundation or mailed to Megan Armstrong at P.O. Box 97, Yuma CO 80759.
