Obituary for Noble Eugene "Gene" Kreps

Noble Eugene “Gene” Kreps, 91, passed away January 3, 2017 at his home in Sanford. He was born August 2, 1925 at the W.H. Carter home in Sanford to Noble Ernest Clarence Kreps and Nora Oressa Carter Kreps. He was the second of three sons born to this union. Gene’s older brother Bill and younger brother Kenneth survive him.

Gene proudly served his country during World War II. He met and later married his sweetheart, Elva Janet Mitchell on June 4, 1950 at her parents’ home in Manassa. They were sealed for time and eternity on June 5, 1951 in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Gene worked hard all of his life and was well known for his welding skills, but was probably best known for his kind heart. He is survived by his children Scott (Sarah) Kreps, Jeff (Leigh) Kreps, Melanie (Gary) Sego, Michelle (Melvin) Richardson, Jane Christensen, Lori (Jim) Gibson and Kandace (Pat) Gunter. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elva, his son Lance, great-grandson John David, sons-in-law Andy Christensen and Loren Spencer.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Sanford Wards Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2017. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 10:45 am Friday morning, prior to services, in the Relief Society Room at the Church. Interment will follow services in the Sanford Cemetery.
