Obituary for Jesus Manuel Garcia-Duarte

Alamosa resident Jesus Manuel Garcia Duarte, 75, passed away peacefully at his home in Alamosa, surrounded by his family and under hospice care.

Jesus was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on June 3, 1941 to Jesus Garcia and Josefa Duarte. He married his wife of more than 56 years, Bertha Alice Diaz in 1961.

Jesus loved horses and enjoyed breaking and training them. He worked for many years on various Ranches and farms throughout California, Arizona and Colorado and worked the fields, caring for cattle and horses or doing whatever was needed. In his spare time Jesus liked to fish.

He has a sense of humor that was good even up until the end of his life. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.

Jesus is survived by his wife Bertha Garcia of Alamosa; his children Jesus Manuel (Graciela Muñoz) Garcia, Jr, Emma (Rafael) Garcia, Graciela (Aquilino Lara) Garcia, Bertha Garcia, Jr., Mariselva Garcia, Julieta (Benito) Fernandez, Ismael (Besieda) Garcia, Josefa Garcia, Jorge (Angelica) Garcia and Rosario (Able) Rodelas; as well as 29 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one sister Ofelia Garcia.

He is preceded in death by his parents and numerous brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Service was held 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Interment will take place in Temosachic, Mexico.
